How to Style Over the Knee Boots

Hi guys!

I finally decided to start a series on YouTube called “How To Style”. Whenever I think about outfits in the morning I always tend to Google a particular item so I thought this might actually be helpful for people when they’re trying to search up the same things in the morning.

I actually got this idea from a comment on someone else’s photo… I know, I’m such a stealer. BUT AT LEAST I’M UPFRONT ABOUT IT RIGHT??? LOL

Anyway, I hope this is a good way to show you how these perfect fall boots can be styled. Hope you enjoy!!

Love,
Lisa

Andrews’ Scenic Acres

To celebrate my 5 year friendaversary with Kristina, we decided to actually do something for the day rather than our usual pig out & drink out #IMadeThatUp #ImSoProud. I stumbled upon pictures of the flower field at Andrews’ Scenic Acres and decided that would be the perfect place to have our Sunday Funday. Anyway, after last week’s failed trip to a lavender farm and going to Scarborough Bluffs instead, I learned my lesson and decided to call ahead of time JUST TO MAKE SURE they’re opened and the flowers were still there. Unlike lavenders, these flowers are thankfully still in season (honestly how does anybody except some plant expert know what is in season and what is not?! LOL #NotMe) and the sun’s still holding up so I decided to drive us ALLLLLL THE WAY TO MILTON (reminds me of driving to Western which I should have done this weekend to go to HOCO… sigh…)

The farm also has a corn field which means you also have the option of picking corn. I wanted to do this SOOO BADLY (FYI I love corn I don’t know if you wanted to know that but I’m telling you anyway) but when we got there a lot of the corn were dead. You can tell that it’s been cooked by the sun :'(. I was also planning to buy it but it was soooo expensive like $1 each like honey, I usually buy mine for like 4 for $1 at Kingsfarm in Vancouver. Anyway, wow, this is turning into a corn rant. We didn’t walk out empty handed though because we took pictures instead 😉 #SeeWhatIDidThere.

After finishing up at the corn farm we walked back to the flower field to take pictures. We really wanted someone to take one of the two of us so (NO SHAME) we walked ALL THE WAY across the field literally hunting someone down just for a picture.

my beautiful bestie ❤

Hope you all had a nice weekend! Definitely check this farm out when you get the chance… it’s the perfect summer-fall transition activity 🙂

Aritzia Warehouse Sale Shopping Tips & Tricks

For those of you who have known me for a long time, you probably know that I’m a sucker for warehouse sales and I’ve been going to the Aritzia Warehouse sale since I was in grade 6. That’s nearly 10 years O.O #nolife #veteran. Anyway, after going for so many damn years I’ve learned a thing or two about shopping at this warehouse sale (or warehouse sales in general…) so I thought I’d share my tips and tricks to make the most out of this hectic experience.

1. WEAR CLOTHES THAT ARE EASY TO TAKE ON AND OFF

The thing about warehouse sales is that everything they sell is final sale. That means you definitely have to try on the clothes before purchasing it. Another reason trying on is important is because sometimes you’ll realize defective details that you wouldn’t have noticed had you not tried it on. That being said, you need to wear clothes that are easy to take on and off so you don’t waste your time.

You also need to wear a pair of comfortable shoes so you’re able to run around the entire venue no problem LIKE CHASING THAT B**** THAT TOOK YOU SHIRT (lol jk don’t do that but if she really took your shirt…)

2. WEAR A TWO PIECE INSTEAD OF ONE (AKA DRESS, JUMPSUIT ETC)

This year, I wore a tube top from Brandy Melville – it made it super easy to take on and off and it even made it easy to try things on outside the change rooms when the line-ups get too long. I also wore shorts that were easy to pull off so that way I could try on different tops while having a pair of black shorts to see how it would look. Wearing a classic tube top also made it easy because it pretty much went with any pair of pants I put on.

3. do not wear artizia clothes (or whatever brand that’s hosting the sale)

The thing is, a lot of clothes they sell don’t have price tags on (sometimes because customers try it on and it falls off). That being said, if you wear something nice from Aritzia and someone picks it up while you’re changing, they might end up purchasing it (true story).

4. WEAR PROPER UNDERWEAR

If you’re trying out a bunch of different outfits, you need to wear undergarments that can match the most number of outfits. For me, that would be my strapless nude bra because I get to see what a piece of clothing looks like when I wear whites, strapless, or tank tops. For underwear, I also suggest wearing something nude if you like white bottoms (or a thong).

5. BRING A SMALL PURSE THAT DOESN’T NEED TO BE COAT CHECK

This year, a woman lost her LV purse because the coat check person gave someone else her bag. This also happened to me when the coat check person offered me someone else’s nice purse. Moral of the story is that you don’t want to lose your valuables because the sale gets too busy and some people out there are evil #ihatehumans.

Additionally, this helps you save time so you don’t have to line up for coat check the minute you get inside and you can get straight to the clothes (AND you don’t have to line up on the way out).

6. BRING WATER!!!!!!!! AND FOOD BUT MOSTLY WATER!!!!

If you’re like me and plan on staying at the warehouse sale for a couple of hours, you need to bring water to refuel yourself. If you’re planning to stay there for really long (like me #oops #guilty), you should also bring snacks when you’re lining up for the sale or even when you’re inside to help you refuel. The first few years that I’ve been going to the warehouse sale, I never thought of bringing food or water but I always felt like dying when I leave #DramaQueenHour. When I brought my mom she was smart enough to bring both food and water for us which kept us going for the whole day #MyMomIsAsCrazyAsMe.

If you’ve attended the sale before, you know that you don’t just go into the sale. You have to earn your way through by lining up for hours. That being said, you should probably have a strategy going in so you get what you want and you don’t feel like the line-up was a waste. Even if you’re not first in line, these tips will help to keep you organized in a hectic condition.

1. MAKE A LIST

I don’t mean that you have to physically write a list down but you should have an idea in your head of the things you want to look for. This is usually the stuff that you’ve wanted in stores but didn’t buy it because of the price. This list is important because it helps you filter and prioritize your items when you’re at the sale.

2. go after THE MOST SOUGHT AFTER ITEMS FIRST

You want to go after the most-wanted items first because they’ll be the first to go. Or at least the common sizes will be the first to go. That being said, if the “most popular” items are part of your list, you should go to these first.

I’m not sure if this is 100% true, but after going for so many years, I feel like these are the most popular items (in order):

  1. Winter jackets (parkas)
  2. Wool coats
  3. Jeans
  4. Sweaters
  5. Pants

From experience, these are usually the most difficult to find because they have the biggest savings. But once again, not sure if this is actually true but this is what I usually notice when I go.

2. HAVE A “YES” “NO” “MAYBE” PILE

Filtering is your best friend at these warehouse sales. You need to grab first and think later. When you think first it might be gone SO PRIORITIZE, PEOPLE!!!!

My last tip…

GO TO THE FRIENDS AND FAMILY EVEN THE DAY BEFORE IF YOU CAN

The warehouse sale always has a friends & family event one day before the actual sale. If you can, try to cop a ticket from a friend that works at Aritzia because it will save you a lot more time waiting in line and potentially better things at the sale!

For those of you who are interested in seeing what I got this year at the Aritzia Warehouse Sale, check out my first non-vlog on YouTube!

Lisa

HI GUYS!!!! 🙂

After being in school for more than half my life (17 years?! holy shit that’s like a full angry teenager), I can’t believe I’m finally done school. F.I.NA.L.L.Y. I feel like I’ve been waiting for this moment ever since I got put into a group project in grade 3 and had to deal with humans #DramaQueenHour #YesDramaQueenHourIsBack. Will I miss school? Uh… to some extent. I’ll definitely miss organized hang out sessions (some people call it class) with my friends, being able to sleep in because my class schedule is based on my sleeping and eating timetable, and of course the “let’s have a chill night”s that turn into black outs over the weekend. But the parts I won’t miss? Having to work even when classes are over and feeling like nothing is ever completely “done” because even if you’ve studied enough – is it still enough doe? #theanxietyisreal

Anyway, would I pursue another degree? PROBABLY NOT. HECK NO. As a person with real ADHD issues, I don’t think my brain is engineered to sit still for more than 5 minutes so I’m probably not gonna pay for another few years of putting my brain through that.

NEXT CHAPTER

So if I’m not going to school then WTF am I doing with my life? #WhoGivesAShitBesidesMyMomButImTellingYouAnyway. The first step of my next chapter is probably dealing with my own expenses since there’s no more Bank of Mom & Dad. That means working full-time starting in September and living the rush hour life just like everybody else #Basic. With a more steady schedule in my life, I feel like it would be easier to manage other aspects of my life (this is really starting to sound like a college essay rather than a blog post but anyway). Besides, life is really just about improving yourself right…?????? (I say this every year but I end up staying the same but whatever it’s the thought that counts). That means eating healthier, exercising more, yaddi yada, it’s all the same stuff. But what else is new?

MOVING IN WITH PUKAS LUCAS!!! #Pukas2Lucas

We recently started furniture shopping and organizing our room… What that really means is I do all the furniture picking and Lucas does all the organizing because of his severe OCD.

*What feels like every night*
Lucas: babe can we clean
Me: … … … NO BABE ALL WE DO IS CLEAN.

We also realized very quickly that we I have a lot of shit clothes and someday down the road I’m gonna get that Carrie Bradshaw closet… OR EVEN THE ONE FROM PRINCESS DIARIES – either or is fine I’m not complaining ;).

The best part about school being over is the free time in the evenings (and for now… 24/7) so I’m finally able to have time to pursue the things that I have real interest in. Such as writing on this blog. Being able to write has always been an outlet but with such a busy past few years, I’ve been putting this on the back burner.

HOPEFULLY I’M BACK FOR GOOD. #ConsistencyisKey #SomethingIDontUsuallyHave.

As usual, thanks for reading :). Until next week 😉

Love,
Lisa

Milan Fashion Week

Doing exchange in Milan means one thing… MILAN FASHION WEEK!!! *Cue tweens me at JBiebs concert screams*

But seriously, I prepared for this moment ever since I submitted my application for exchange  #EagerBeaver. I even bought my outfit months in advance and just took off the tags yesterday #FashionOlymmpics?. The only thing that didn’t go according to plan was my 6 pack that never showed up #OhWell #MaybeNextYear.

lugged this cape around for months just to wear for one day #lisalogic

I was traveling in the beginning of fashion week so I wasn’t able to catch Gigi, Aimee Song, and the other bloggers on site (I know, I had one job) but we came right in time for the last day 😀 #thankgod #MyOutfitWouldGoToWaste. Thankfully, Monisha also just got back from traveling and needed to check out MFW as well so we headed over to the Duomo right before class.

milan fashion week 2017

So how did we get in??? #FAQ

Long story short we showed up armed so they pretty much had to let us in.

Just kidding, but the real story’s pretty anticlimactic.

Basically we walked to the entrance and there were guards up at the front. We saw one girl walk up to security and said, “my name should be on that list” – which it was, and she got inside. I felt pretty discouraged but another group of girls looked like they were talking to the guards and he didn’t pull out any type of list, so we decided to give it a try. We simply asked, “can we head inside?” He looks at his partner, and turned to us and said yes. Once we got to entrance #2, Monisha and I kept saying to each other, “act cool, act cool… gotta pretend like we belong”. Later, a woman approached us and asked if we were press, bloggers, students, or whatever (okay she didn’t say whatever but she might as well have because who are we to be there?). We answered “students abroad” but she heard “from a blog” so she encouragingly led us to our seats. I mean technically this is going on a blog… 😉

Moral of the story: Lie??? or accidentally lie???

milan fashion week 2017

We were able to catch the last show of the entire week – Daizy Shely’s Fall/Winter 2017-2018 collection.

I wanted to vlog my entire experience but I didn’t gather enough clips so here’s a gif I learned how to make just for this blog post LOL:

and this one:

The last walk

The entire show is exactly the way you dreamed it would be: The venue was grand with classic European architecture. There’s also classical music in the background before the show commences with photographers and press everywhere, especially towards the end of the catwalk:

fullsizerender-jpg-6

The show itself was not very long but there was a lot to take in. There were a lot of details on each of the outfits so it was almost overwhelming as my first time trying to take in everything: the venue, the models, the music, etc. What was almost as amazing to watch was the audience. The entire audience was extremely dressed up, sunglasses in their faces, clutches in hand, and speaking a bunch of different languages.

milan fashion week 2017

When the show was over, everyone took the opportunity to take pictures in the venue. INCLUDING US OF COURSE 😀

Angle #1

We were really lucky and found someone that took photos for us in all different kinds of angles. This is the type of people we need to surround ourselves with :’) #MakesMeTear #Grateful

Angle #2. This guy rocks.

Maybe next time we’ll get an invite and not have to accidentally lie our way through??? LOL #OneCanDream

PS. For people thinking of sneaking in: make sure you dress the part, you never know what’s going to happen! They’re also more inclined to let you in if you look like you’re part of it!

Lisa
